SPiDCOM inside HomePlug Powerline Alliance

The HomePlug Alliance is an industry led standardization initiative. It gathers an impressive range of best-in-class companies at each level of the value-chain. Well-known "Big Guns" and fabless semiconductor companies join together to help shape the HomePlug technologies.

SPiDCOM is a key contributor in creating HomePlug technologies.

SPiDCOM inside other standards bodies

SPiDCOM actively participates to other efforts of standardization and regulation of Powerline Communication worldwide:

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) is a standardization body that has a good experience in the standardization of telecommunication systems for fixed and mobile networks and services, TV broadcasting as well as for information technologies.

The Home Gateway Initiative is an open forum launched by Telcos in December 2004 with the aim to release specifications of the home gateway.In addition to Telcos several manufacturers have joined the alliance.The initiative will drive the development of residential gateways supporting the delivery of services.

The IEEE-SA Corporate Standards Program allows entities to create standards within an ANSI-accredited, open process. Standards are developed in company-based working groups in which each member has one vote. P1901 working group, formed in 2005, has grown from 20 to more than 50 members. Members are corporations, government agencies, trade associations, universities, and standards developing organizations. Each entity has one vote.

ITU-T G.hn is the common name for the "next generation" home network technology standard being developed under the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). G.hn contributors are working to develop the standard for existing-wire home networking. G.hn has targeted gigabit per second data rates and operation over all three types of home wires: coax, powerline and phone wires.

OMEGA is an Integrated Project in the ICT area funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7). The project is running for three years from January 2008 to December 2010. OMEGA will develop a user-friendly home area network capable of delivering high-bandwidth services and content at a transmission speed of one Gigabit per second.

PLC-Ready Association is a French initiative whose goal is to define the « best design guidelines » for in-house electrical installation and its connected equipments, so as to optimize PLC signal integrity transmission. A label applying to these electrical installations and equipments will be promoted.
